Play games in the interview and get the job!
Preparing for the interview is always a challenging task, specially for freshers! Its difficult to guess what kind of questions the interviewer is going to ask. Remember its also a difficult task for companies to identify a fresher with ability to solve the problems! Students don't really get the knowledge of real world problems in their academics. One can not expect them to be expert in their domain being a fresher! Therefore Interviewer always looks for problem solving capability in freshers than the domain knowledge.
Can you imagine an interviewer asks you to play a mobile game in an interview! You are asked to complete a task in the game to clear the interview round! Interesting isn't it?
Yes its true! Many companies are now using mobile games as a part of their interview process. Mostly are puzzle games. Companies do carry out these tests to evaluate numeric ability, verbal ability , logical reasoning, analytical reasoning etc. There are some mobile games which can help to identify the above mentioned skills of candidate.
We mate a senior project manager of well known MNC. He told us that they are using 'Mystery numbers - math magic square' along with the 'Sudoku' and 'Crossword' puzzles in the interview. Sudoku and Crossword are well known puzzles and needs no explanation. Mystery numbers is a magic square puzzle where user need to place the given numbers in 4x4 square in such a way that addition of all rows, columns and diagonals is same. At first I did not find it very challenging but later realised why did I struggle to get the job when I was a fresher ! With hard difficulty level it gets very very challenging to solve magic square puzzle.
We also contacted 'Vichitra Games' team based in Pune, India who are developers of 'Mystery numbers' puzzle game. Co-founder Mr. Rohit Kulkarni said that they are happy the way their game is being used. He further added that they are working on couple of more puzzle games which can also be used in a same way!
Conclusion is if you are a fresher and looking for a job then make sure you have plenty of puzzle games in your mobile! Solving puzzles will never harm you in anyway ! :)
